However, it is determined to make the most of its mysterious existence!

"The Little Mermaid" Reimagined
Based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, I researched Asian cultures that had interesting relationships with the ocean and had a history of colonization. I mainly incorporated my research of Lanyu ("Orchid Island") and the Tao people for this project, but I also decided to incorporate elements of traditional Filipino clothing.

"An Underground River"
As part of a student showcase, I explored worldbuilding in a post-apocalyptic future where the ocean is receding and water is a limited resource.
My narrative is about an orphan cast out by her faction. She struggles to survive when she accidentally discovers water and a new family. After deeming the girl as worthy of their trust, the salamander-like creatures bring her into their home. Protecting water and her found family soon becomes her new purpose in an otherwise desolate world.
