"A Fabled Journey" is a poetic narrative that explores the cyclical nature of life and death, hope and anxiety in a modern world, homesickness and the desire to escape home, and waking and dreaming. Can all these loops tell the same story? Where does it lead and where does it begin? Can a cycle like this be broken?
This project was born from my own experience of living between Taipei and New York, from tears shed missing an island the way it was before I was born on it and from grieving a dying world, from my half-asleep and half-awake thoughts, and from a desire to lead a less fragmented life.
The text is a chimera of phrases cut and pieced together from various definitions from the Oxford English Dictionary. The ribbon is designed to be tied and untied to view the book in different ways.
